The ABTS and RRC have adopted new guidelines for our programs, starting July 2007. This means that residents interviewed in 2006 to start in 2007 will be subject to the new case volume requirements. The RRC minimum case requirements for residents that begin in the summer of 2007 and thereafter show substantial increases in case load requirements, and importantly, new requirements for documentation of pre and postoperative encounters (see attachment). All Programs evaluated by the RRC will be expected to document these minimums.
Please take action to ensure your program will meet these requirements. Please share this information with your staff, residents, coordinators and faculty.
