Journey to Authenticity: Voices of Chief Residents honored for distinguished achievement in public relations

CHICAGO, May 12, 2008– Journey to Authenticity: Voices of Chief Residents , a book of interviews with chief residents, has been honored with a 2008 Silver Trumpet Award from the Publicity Club of Chicago. The award, which recognizes distinguished achievement in public relations, was presented May 9 during a ceremony at the Palmer House Hilton.

Journey to Authenticity: Voices of Chief Residents , a 128-page hardcover book, consists of frank, in-depth interviews with 20 chief residents in various specialties, accompanied by a series of color photographs showing them caring for patients and mentoring junior residents. In the interviews, the residents discuss their reasons for choosing medicine as a career, memorable experiences during their residencies, moments of personal growth, and plans for the future. The book, published in 2007, was created to commemorate the ACGME's 25 years of assessing and advancing the quality of residents' education through accreditation of residency programs.

Limited copies of the book are available for sale for $75. Copies may be ordered online on the ACGME's website at http://www.acgme.org/acWebsite/newsRoom/newsRM_ChiefResidents07.asp.
