Since 2013, the ACGME has used Milestones ratings to assess physician learners across the six Core Competencies, including Professionalism and Interpersonal and Communication Skills. A new study published in JAMA sheds light on their association to early unsupervised practice.

Publication builds on meetings of GME leaders from across ACGME-I-accredited Sponsoring Institutions, using their direct input to inform the document.

In December 2024, the ACGME announced the upcoming launch of its ACGME Cloud platform in 2025. As part of this exciting development, the ACGME has now unveiled a pre-launch information hub at www.ACGMECloud.org. 

Former ACGME President and Chief Executive Officer Thomas J. Nasca, MD, MACP has received the 2025 Special Recognition Award, presented by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), for his nearly two decades leading the ACGME and advancing graduate medical education.

The ACGME, Intealth, and the Medical Council of Canada (MCC) entered into an agreement to enhance post-graduate medical education (PGME) through the development of assessment programs.

The ACGME is pleased to announce that Mary E. Klingensmith, MD will assume the role of Chief Accreditation Officer effective August 31. In her new role, Dr. Klingensmith will lead activities related to the Review and Recognition Committees for graduate medical education.

The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), ACGME International (ACGME-I), and the Ministry of Health Republic of Indonesia are proud to announce their collaboration on the Expansion and Enhancement of Post-Graduate Medical Education for Medical Specialists in the Republic of Indonesia initiative as part of the Indonesian Health System Transformation.

The ACGME has selected 30 resident/fellow teams to receive the fourth cycle of funding for Back to Bedside, a resident-led initiative to develop innovative strategies for finding deeper connections with patients, improving physician and patient well-being. 

On June 18, more than 175 individuals representing state medical licensing boards and organizations involved with medical education, accreditation, and certification joined members of the public in Washington, D.C. for a one-day symposium hosted by the Advisory Commission on Alternate Licensing Models.
