As The Journal of Graduate Medical Education launches a new section, GME Around the World, the Journal Notes blog series introduces one of its editors, Dr. Marije P. Hennus.

As September is National Suicide Prevention Month, the ACGME is taking the opportunity to reiterate its commitment to supporting mental health and well-being.

In the poster, “Online Well-Being Group Coaching Program for Physicians: Two Randomized Control Trials,” Tyra Fainstad, MD and her team describe two studies that looked to explore the impact of well-being group coaching on physicians and physician learners.

2022 Parker J. Palmer Courage to Teach Awardee Vance Sohn, MD, works in strategic operations for US Army Medical Command in the Office of the Surgeon General, US Army. Dr. Sohn specializes in general surgery and surgical oncology. 

Anita Akbar Ali, MD’s poster, Child Abuse Curriculum for Anesthesiology Residents, presented at the 2020 ACGME Annual Educational Conference, reports on the knowledge, attitude, confidence, and commitment residents had about reporting child abuse before and after participating in the curriculum.

2021 David C. Leach Awardee Matthew Robert "Robbie" Martin, MD is an instructor fellow who focuses on evidence-based provider well-being promotion at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He specializes in family medicine.

In a Featured Plenary at #ACGME2023 entitled Nutrition and Health: Developing a GME Framework, Kate Sommerfeld, MPA, David Seres, MD, ScM, PNS, FASPEN, and Jaclyn Lewis Albin, MD, CCMS, DipABLM discussed the importance of nutrition and engaging with local populations to improve nutrition education.
