We’re at the mid-way point in the five-year transition to a single GME accreditation system—and this is our third pre-conference for osteopathic residency and fellowship programs. A lot has happened in the last few years, and we’re proud of our expanding family—not just on the program side, but also on the accreditation and governance side.

Dr. Bonnie Olsen answered the ACGME’s questions on behalf of the team behind the poster, “Elder Abuse Education in Medical Residency: Evaluating the Efficacy of Elder Abuse Curriculum for Residents and Geriatric Fellows,” presented at the 2023 ACGME Annual Educational Conference.

The first Thomas J. Nasca, M.D. Award for Distinguished Teaching and Dedication to Student Medical Education was presented June 1 at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College Class Day Program, named to honor the ACGME's CEO.

Welcome to the new academic year! As thousands of new residents begin their journey toward independent practice this month, we asked Jeff Dewey, MD, former resident member of the Review Committee for Neurology, to reflect on his experiences in residency and share lessons he learned.

This second report provides insight into changing clinical learning environments, and shows improvements in resident and fellow engagement in patient safety. The first report was released in 2016.

The proposed revisions to Section VI of its Common Program Requirements are open for public comment over the next 45 days. The Requirements provide uniform standards for all accredited US residency and fellowship programs.
