On August 7, 2019, Ohio Valley Medical Center (OVMC) in Wheeling, West Virginia informed its employees it would close in 60 to 90 days. OVMC is a participating site for ACGME-accredited emergency medicine and internal medicine residency programs.

The Back to Bedside initiative is designed to empower medical residents and fellows to generate innovative strategies that will allow them to engage on a deeper level with what is at the heart of medicine: their patients.

This second report provides insight into changing clinical learning environments, and shows improvements in resident and fellow engagement in patient safety. The first report was released in 2016.

Dr. Holmboe has been named a 2018 Honorary Fellow by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (Royal College). He has worked on projects with the Royal College for over a decade.
