Pre-Conference Introductory Course for New Program Directors

December 11, 2018

You’re a new program director—now what? The Introductory Course for New Program Directors will help you get started with tangible information, networking opportunities, and advice from those who’ve “been there.” We invite you to join ACGME staff members and colleagues for a full-day pre-conference covering everything from accreditation, to finance, to the unwritten jobs a program director takes on.

Presented by ACGME Senior Vice Presidents for Accreditation Mary Lieh-Lai, MD, FAAP, FCCP and Louis Ling, MD, along with select Review Committee chairs, this course is for new program directors (those with one to five years’ experience) who want to dive into program management issues and solutions, as well as for more experienced program directors who want a refresher on program management and accreditation.

The all-day preconference will cover both accreditation and management topics, including:

  • Handling problem residents
  • Financial aspects of graduate medical education
  • Accreditation Program Requirements
  • The Accreditation Data System
  • The ACGME’s current accreditation model
  • Scholarly activities
  • The Program Evaluation Committee and the Annual Program Evaluation
  • The Milestones and the Clinical Competency Committee
  • New program applications (for US programs only)

Beyond the pre-conference, the 2019 ACGME Annual Educational Conference is committed to helping you become a better educator and improve graduate medical education in myriad ways. Review conference sessions specifically recommended for program directors in the Learning Track outlined on page 14 of the Conference Brochure.

Join us at the pre-conference Introductory Course for New Program Directors, and at the Annual Educational Conference—we look forward to seeing you in Orlando! The early registration discount is available through January 4, 2019, so register now!
