Annual Educational Conference - What's New this Year?

February 23, 2018

New Theme
The ACGME’s Annual Educational Conference takes place in Orlando, Florida next week - from March 1-4. The conference theme, Engaging Each Other: Transformation Through Collaboration extends beyond the conference; it’s also the theme of our 2017-2018 Annual Report, which will be published in September.

In an effort to emphasize that theme, Engaging Each Other, the Educational Activities team, responsible for putting the conference together under the leadership of Timothy P. Brigham, MDiv, PhD, has added a few exciting new items to this year’s event.

Reconnect with Old Friends, Connect with New Ones
A Ribbon Wall, from which attendees can choose ribbons with personal or professional “community identifiers” (e.g., coffee drinker, runner, coordinator, etc.) to add to their badges, can be found in the Registration area. These ribbons will be similar to those that staff members, awardees, and speakers have on their badges. The idea is that people can self-identify and the ribbons will provide opportunities to connect with people with similar interests and experiences throughout the conference.

And while you’re at it, share your connections with—old and new—friends on social media using our conference hashtag: #ACGME2018! Be sure to follow @ACGME on Twitter as well, and remember to check in on this blog daily.

On Friday evening, shuttles from all three hotels will go to CityWalk, and on Saturday, shuttles will go to Pointe Orlando. More information about timing and logistics will be available in the Conference Mobile App.

Reconnect with Yourself
In an effort to promote well-being and engaging with each other outside of conference sessions, we have added 30-minute Sunrise Yoga and Meditation session on Friday and Saturday mornings at 6:00 a.m. outside in an enclosed courtyard (to keep the large reptiles out!) near the pool at Rosen Shingle Creek. There will be a limited number of mats available—first come, first served.

It’s a new year! Time to update that old head shot you’ve been using for the last few years (or longer?!). On Thursday evening, during the Welcome Reception, a free “photo booth” is available to all attendees to have a professional head shot taken by a professional photographer. The photo booth will be open from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in the Career Corner area of the Exhibit Hall.

We look forward to seeing everyone in sunny Orlando!
