The ACGME is seeking physicians to serve on a standing Appeals Panel in the following specialties:
- Dermatology
- Preventive Medicine
- Vascular Surgery
The criteria for applicants are:
- Must be certified by the American Board of [specialty name] or the American Osteopathic Board of [specialty name] of the applicable specialty.
- Must be able to devote sufficient time to the appeals panel work.
- Should have at least three years' experience as a program director, department chair, associate/assistant program director, and/or core faculty member.
- Applicants not currently serving in one of these roles may be considered if they held one of these positions within the last three years.
- The applicants’ programs must have a status of Continued Accreditation.

Shaping GME: Major Program Requirements Revision for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
The Writing Group for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation will begin development of the new Program Requirements later this summer. To inform this effort, the group seeks stakeholder input, in the form of a survey, in several key areas before beginning that work. A background document and the link to the survey can be found in the Shaping GME table on the Review and Comment page.

Implementation of a “Best Self” Exercise to Decrease Imposter Phenomenon in Residents

Imposter phenomenon is common in medicine. During first-year resident orientation, the authors of this study used an intervention from the business world, the Reflected Best Self Exercise, in which an individual elicits stories of themselves at their best, to combat imposter phenomenon.
Recommendations for the Effective Orientation of Clinical Fellows

Commitment to an effective orientation can create a valuable opportunity for incoming fellows to address uncertainties and acclimatize to a new education and training environment. Utilizing an Embedded Critical Ethnography Experience to Help Residents Understand Locally Relevant Social Determinants of Health

Educating neurological surgery residents about locally relevant social determinants of health can be challenging. The authors of this study constructed a focused critical ethnography exercise to understand locally relevant social determinants of health, embedded within a yearly travel experience through the state of West Virginia.

Developing Faculty Competencies in Assessment
This course is designed to help participants build effective assessment programs for their residency or fellowship. Sessions are highly interactive and use multiple learning approaches, including simulation practice, peer consultations, and application exercises to provide participants with methods and tools for effective assessment. The course also provides a roadmap for developing an assessment system to assist participants in implementing changes within their own institution.
To give participants maximum opportunity to participate, absorb, and apply course content, the fall/winter course is offered over two, three-day sessions:

- Session Two: December 4-6, 2024

Accreditation Data System (ADS) News
NRMP® YEARLY RESIDENT DATA AVAILABLE IN ADS
In an effort to reduce burden, the ACGME reached an agreement with the National Resident Matching Program® (NRMP®) to receive yearly data regarding residents who have matched into ACGME-accredited programs. The first set of data is available for the Annual Update process. Programs can add new residents/fellows, and an optional NRMP-dropdown will appear to populate data on the form.
ADS ANNUAL UPDATE SCHEDULE
The ADS Annual Update for 2024-2025 will be collected now until September 2024, and programs will receive an initial notification email at the beginning of the reporting timeframe noting all Annual Update requirements and their respective deadlines. Each program's timeframe will appear under "Program" > "Important Dates" on the right-hand side.
