The Review Committee invites comments related to specific requirements or topics that should be addressed as revisions are developed. In particular, the Review Committee invites comments related to what the subspecialty will look like in the future, and the competencies, resources, and personnel necessary to create physicians who will practice in this subspecialty. Comments should be submitted by Friday, April 18, 2025. Changes to the ACGME Common Program Requirements are not within the purview of the Review Committee and, therefore, comments related to Common Program Requirements, indicated by bold font in the Requirements document, should not be submitted and will not be considered.

The challenges encountered in the transition from GME to independent practice have not been extensively studied, particularly from the perspective of new-to-practice attending physicians. Using qualitative data, the authors identify unique domains of struggle that fall outside of ACGME competency frameworks, including workload, new environments, and professional development.

Must be certified by the relevant American Board of Medical Specialties member board or American Osteopathic Association certifying board.

Must be able to devote sufficient time to the Appeals Panel work.

Should have at least three years' experience as a program director, department chair, associate/assistant program director, and/or core faculty member.

Applicants not currently serving in one of these roles may be considered if they held one of these positions within the last three years.

Applicants’ programs must have a status of Continued Accreditation.
