BACKGROUND
This work is part of a multi-year initiative led by the ACGME, AAMC, and AACOM to create a common set of Foundational Competencies for use in UME programs in the US. This initiative aligns with recommendations outlined by the Undergraduate Medical Education-Graduate Medical Education Review Committee (UGRC) and is part of a comprehensive effort to improve the transition to residency.

The ACGME, AAMC, and AACOM have engaged thought leaders from across academic medicine and have collected input from more than 1,000 medical professionals, students, and patients. Building on the valuable feedback received on the initial iterative draft, which can be foundhere,a diverse working group has continued to develop this second draft. The ACGME and partners are excited to share the updated version of these Foundational Competencies for review and input. These insights will be crucial in shaping the final set of Foundational Competencies for UME.

Feedback must be received by May 3, 2024. Review the competencies and provide feedback here.
